This will help if you’re behind a firewall (ports allowed are : 443, 80
and default ports 5222 not open).
The client we would be using to connect to Gtalk is
psi. And my platform is gonna be linux. I think the
default Gtalk client for Windows works fine from behind a firewall.
So here are the configuration settings (to be used in the new Account dialog) :
Jabber Id : <yourgmailid>@gmail.com
Password : <yourgmailpassword>
In connection tab :
Proxy: Try your proxy (for me it was none)
Advanced :
* Use SSL encryption (to server)
* Ignore SSL warnings
* Allow plaintext logins
* Manually specify Host/Port
Host : talk.google.com Port : 443
This should let you into gtalk ;)
